When finding a perimeter of a figure on a grade why do you not count the spaces inside the grid

U dont count the in side beacuse the in side is the area the out side is the perimeter.

Area- When u count the area u do multiplacation like the lenth multiplied by the width.

Perimeter- When u count the perimeter u do addition like all the numbers that are around the figure or basicly anything.

perimeter means the outside, kind of like the circumference. if you count the inside, it would be area. :) hope this helps.
