Mariah ran farther because if you make the fractions decimals, 3/8 is smaller distance.

What you need to is find out how much 3/8 is, compared to 3/4. since 4 is half of 8 you have to multiply 3/4 by 2, which gives you 6/8. 6/8 is greater than 3/8, therefore Mariah ran farther
