Why was Colonel Billy Mitchell court-martialed and thrown out of the U.S. Army?

He was court-martialed on the charges of insubordination and insisted that the Navy should build aircraft carriers rather than battleships. He believed that these new vessels would be vital when war would occur. In a way he was proven correct in World War II when aircraft carriers were instrumental in many victories at sea.
