Jake set up a study schedule. The plan called for him to study 1/4 hour, 5/8 hour and 1 hour on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday in that order if he continues with this pattern how long will he study on Friday

Each day his study time is increasing. Find a common denominator, in this case 8

1/4 = 2/8
5/8 = 5/8
1 = 8/8

So he went from

2/8 to 5/8 to 8/8 which is an increase of 3/8 each day. If this pattern continues Thursday would be 11/8 and Friday 14/8.

14/8 = 1 6/8 = 1 3/4 hours
