Latitude can have the value between 0 and 90 degrees south and North - together 180 Degrees, corresponding to half a circle. Longitute can have the value between 0 and 180 degrees East and West- together 360 Degrees, corresponding to a circle.
This shows us that it's degrees - their number is the same as the number of degrees in a full circle.
