Some ways to encourage equal power relations ( I understand this to mean: between genders) is to make sure that the daughters and the sons are treated equally: both cook, both are allowed to play with cars.
Additionally, parents should explain to children any discrimination they see and comment on how this is wrong (so if the children witness some gender discrimination, parents should explain to them that this is not a proper behaviour).
