The method to reproduce a plant by burying a portion of its stem is called layering.

Layering is an artificial method of vegetative propagation in which a young stem of a plant is bent towards the ground and buried under the soil to produce adventitious roots. After a period of time, the root grows, and the bent stem is separated from the parent plant and a new plant is produced in the process.
