How were the principles of humanism and the protestant reformation similar?

humanism is the belief that humanity is valuable and perfect, that we should treat eachother with love and respect. The protestant reformation presented the idea that we should not focus on what god said or what is holy or the specifics of the literal translations, but instead the message of love and respect which the bible provided.
