D. oppressive economic control of the North American colonies by the English monarch. When Sir Edmund Andros became governor, people didn’t like him and saw his policies as oppressive. His lieutenant governor Francis Nicholson was also not liked and did not treat the colonists well and this led to the rebellion that affect Massachusetts and New York.
