You find the least common denominator and divide your fraction by that number
16/18
16 / 2= 7
18 / 2= 9
7/9

if you means proper fractions like x/y where x is smaller than y then
remember that x times 1=x
also remember that y/y=1 so
also remember that
lets say you have 10/35
we try to find ones
10=5 times 2
35=5 times 7
then split up the fraction
