The Gideon decision established equal rights for criminals in the federal court system of the United States of America. It was a landmark Supreme Court decision during the year 1963. It established that criminals have the right to counsel even if they are unable to pay their own attorneys. The state shall provide this in due process of equality and human rights adherence.
