Montezuma II ruled over the Aztec Empire during the Spanish Conquest. He was the 9th Aztec Emperor and he led and expanded them to its greatest size. But it was under his rule that the Empire fell apart.

Hope this helps :)

Answer: Moctezuma II ruled over the Aztec Empire

Explanation: Moctezuma II was the ruler of the Aztec Empire during the Spanish conquest, at the beginning of the 1500's, i.e. in the 16th century. This period is considered the peak of Aztec power. There was also a known time for the conqueror Hernan Cortez, who personally wanted to get to know Moctezum II in his conquest campaigns. Moctezuma II is also the last native ruler of the Aztec Empire, having been captured and killed by Cortez.
