Why does carbon dioxide exist naturally in the atmosphere

Carbon Dioxide exists naturally in the atmosphere because it has properties that are good for us but also it helps Earth retain some heat to avoid it from freezing. Too much carbon dioxide can affect us and can cause the greenhouse effect, that is an anormal heating of earth.
