Find a common denominator 7/8 = 35/40 and 5/10 = 20/40. Also 7/8 is almost a whole and 5/10 is half.

You would find a common denominator which is 40. 8 x5 ewuals 40. 7 x 5 equals 35. 35/40. 10 x4 equals 40. 5 x 4 equals 20. 20/40. 35/40 is greater than 20/40 so since 7/8 equals 35/40. 7/8 is greater than 5/10
