The answer is 5/12
First I wrote out the problem 1/4+1/6. Then I drew arrow under the problem. I drew this arrow because they're different denominators and you have to have the same denominator. I changed 1/4 into 6/24 and 1/6 into 4/24. Now you have 6/24 plus 4/24. You add the answer is 10/24 then you simplify and get 5/12

The answer is 5/12, because you first have to make the denominators equal
The lowest common multiple of 4 and 6 is 12
1/4 of 12 is 3 and 1/6 of 12 is 2.
therefore, the addition is really 3/12 + 2/12, which is 5/12. Hope this helped.
