The sunbelts consists of States with a warmer climate. These include, California, Florida, Georgia, Texas, New Mexico etc.

In the 1950s and 1960s there were a large number of Americans moving to these areas from the North and North East of the country.

It was mostly down to the booming economy of the States like California and Texas (Big oil companies). Florida itself was seen as a great place for retirement and a huge tourism interested developed around this.

The development of the Inter State highway, also helped to make transportation easier and facilitated the movement of goods and people.
