The direction of winds changes at night especially in coastal areas.

It can be explained with the help of land and sea breezes.

Sea breezes occur during daytime in which cool breezes from the sea flow towards land.

In contrast, during night time the water remains warmer as compared to the land due to which air above the sea gets warmed and become less dense. Consequently, the lighter and warmer air rises and creates a low-pressure zone above the water.

It pulls the denser air above the land to the empty space over the water.

Thus, breezes move from land to the sea at night.
