What did Mormons experience as they traveled from the Midwest to the Salt Lake Basin?

They had major problems with Native Americans.

They discovered a new passage that made travel simple.
They had a difficult journey through barren lands.
The journey was surprisingly easy.

I think the answer is They had a difficult journey... since they did. They were killed, pushed out and bullied.
