After 1877 which economic changes were encouraged in the new south

The New South encouraged industrialization and new transportation methods. Things such as railroads and canals were popular in the Northeast, but they were not well established in the South. They were given more importance after 1877 along with roads. The New South also wanted to forget about the plantation system they used and come up with a new way to generate money.
