Sundogs, also called Sun Dogs, Mock Suns or Parhelia, is a concentrated patch of light sometimes seen about 22 degrees to the left or right of the Sun. Sundogs often form in pairs on either side, when sunlight reflects through icy clouds containing hexagonal platectystal, aligned wit their flat faces parallel to the ground. This hexagonal ice crystals suspended in cirrostratus cloud reflects sunlight to create halo, sometimes called an icebow, nimbus, or gloriole.
