What Jonas tried to transmit to Asher was a memory of the color red and to Lily and his Father he tried to transmit the memory of an elephant. In both cases he is unsuccessful and Asher gets uncomfortable and Lily says he is hurting her. Unlike Jonas they do not have the Capacity to see Beyond and that is why his attempts were unsuccessful.
