The bones of the middle ear relay vibrations received from the ear drum. The ear drum is a thin conical membrane between the internal and external ear that perceives sounds from outside and gives it distinctiveness based on number of vibrations, which if further relayed to the brain through various organs. It is also called the tympanic membrane or myringia.
