LOBBYING. A lobbyist is a person who attempts to influence politicians, or other government officials with relevant power, to make decisions favorable to the person(s) or business the lobbyist represents; a tobacco lobbyist, for example, might attempt to influence a politician voting on smoking laws to vote in a way which is most favorable to the tobacco company employing them.
