The medical administrative assistant should not, under any means, offer medical advice to the patient, since the assistant does not have any formal medical training. Instead, the assistant should ask if the patient would like to schedule an appointment to see a physician at the clinic or if the patient would like to talk to his or her primary care physician over the phone if possible.
