In what sense did postwar atlanta symbolize the "new south"?

Atlanta is one of those cities in the south which developed diversity in economy as a society. They left the farming and agriculture behind, applied more modern ways to their economic growth and had better results in transportation and manufacturing sectors. This is the reason it is considered as new south.
