The sensory neurons (afferent neurons). These neurons convert stimuli into electrical pulses that are sent to the central nervous system for processing. The stimuli may come from outside the body, such as smell, sound, and touch, or from inside the body such as blood pressure. Afferent neurons in the Periphery nervous system connect to 31 spinal nerves that send information to the brain through cranial nerves.
