The correct answer here is C. The South had many officers who were expertly trained and attended the prestigious West Point military academy. But even though it had many excellent officers they did not really have great generals except general Lee. The North had much better generals like Ulysses S. Grant, and general McArthur. The union also had bigger army and it was financially stronger as well.
