A law is something that has been proven. A theory is an in depth explanation of the observed phenomenon.

A law is something that has proven to be true. There isn't any information that could go against it. Like, for instance, gravity. Gravity will always be something the Earth has.

A theory is something that has some evidence but hasn't been proved. Other information could prove it wrong. For example, evolution is a theory. It actually hasn't been proved by scientists yet.

I hope this helps!
