I believe the correct answer is B. they rejected the authority of the papacy.One of the reasons why the Protestant Church wanted to reform the entire Catholic Church was because of the popes themselves - Protestants thought popes were abusing their powers and thus didn't want to follow their religious rules until something is changed.
