Fossil fuel is a hydrocarbon which comprises hydrogen and carbon and when it is heated, the carbon makes carbon dioxide and the hydrogen makes water. For both these methods, the fuel exercises available oxygen from the atmosphere. In both cases, the production of the Hydrogen-Oxygen and Carbon-Oxygen synthetic bonds generates energy in the form of heat.
