Oxidation, especially ferric (iron-based) oxidation, causes some soil to appear orangish red. This is the same process by which metal rusts, and is related to the redox reaction of iron in the soil.

What is the type of chemical weathering that causes some soil to appear orangish red? Pls help. :)
