There are many reasons cathedrals were built with stones. There are little or no external factors that affects stone. It can last almost forever and is strong in compression. It's resistant to pests, doesn't rot, and is fireproof. It's aesthetics with time when compared with other construction material is pretty awesome. It has an imposing, grandiose, and impressive looks with time. Stone is very abundant. These and many more makes stone the ultimate choice when building cathedral.
