Britain also needed money to pay for its war debts. The King and Parliament believed they had the right to tax the colonies. They decided to require several kinds of taxes from the colonists to help pay for the French and Indian War.

The colonist boycotted British goods because they were taxed for many things unjustly and unreasonably. It was a statement to show that they are not loyal to the king. Just know this, the American Revolution was not about freedom. The revolution was about money. An economic to be technical.
