Procopius was a biographer of the Emperor Justinian and author of a book on the buildings of Justinian. He was the first to assert that the dome of Hagia Sophia floated over the building by divine intervention. He was happy because the building was monumental and it passed the high aristocratic standards. It was a true representation of the God and it's divine power. What is less known is that Procopius hated Justinian and even refferd to him as a deamon. Procopius came from the aristocracy, which as a group resented Justinian and Theodora. Part of the problem were the peasent background of both the emperor and empress.
