On January 22, 1905 a non-violent march was led to Moscow to petition the Tsar for land reforms as well as an assembly elected by universal suffrage. The crowd was attacked violently by Cossack soldiers and the event has since been known as Bloody Sunday. The people of Russia blamed the Tsar for the vile behavior of the soldiers.

In 1905, Russian marched to Saint Petersburg to demand reforms, but soldiers fired on the crowd. This event is called "Bloody Sunday." The tsar established a legislature, called the Duma, which had no real power. In addition, the people resented the influence of Rasputin, a peasant faith healer who claimed to be able to heal Prince Alexei of his disease, hemophilia. Hope this helps. Thanks!
