The answer would be heavy drinking.  Martens et al.discover that drinking to manage with sport-related anxiety was connected to bigger negative personal consequences from drinking. Furthermore, a national study of student athletes described that social drugs, as well as alcohol, were mainly used by athletes for entertaining purposes or for its enjoyable effects.
