Early Portuguese and Dutch explorers decided not to create settlements in Australia because C) They didn't think that the land was suitable for settlements. The Portuguese and Dutch settled mostly in the Americas and many of their colonies were established there. These nations did not think that Australia would be suitable to provide for their colonies needs, instead Australia was primarily settled by Great Britain.
