The Soviet leader engaged in the Great Purge was Joseph Stalin (option D).

It was also known as the Great Terror, it was the way in which Stalin dealt with political opposition. It was considered a brutal with no mercy political repression campaign during the Soviet Union. It had over a million detained and half of a million people killed.
