Conservative. Since 1978, Supreme Court judgements on matters such as affirmative action and abortion have tended to be more conservative as the Republican Presidents named have tended to appoint judges in their own image. Specifically, Justices Rehnquist, Scalie, O'Connor, Kennedy, Souter and Thomas were all appointed during this period.
