Durham Cathedral in England, was built before the early Renaissance when it became what it is known as today, a place for all to come and pray and worship. The structure and many of the statues and artifacts were crafted by earlier craftsmen from a less civilized age and it can be said that the Cathedral of today is built from the workmanship of these "barbarian" artists.
