Landslides happen when the angle of repose for a sediment is exceeded and the slope readjusts itself.

True, this is how landslides can happen. The material, or sediment, moves continuously down the hill when the angle of repose is exceeded. This process results in a landslide. This does not stop until some sort of equilibrium is reached after the slope readjusts itself.
