What are the factors that led to US participation in the Persian Gulf conflict in the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq

Some factors were the U.S invaded Afghanistan because of 9/11. The U.S invades Iran because of the war on terrorism. It was thought that Iran had weapons of mass destruction. And helping to free the Iraqi people to help them form a democratic country. Hope this helps! ;)
