That would be false. They can return the check to you unpaid, or pay for it and charge you a fee.

Answer:

False

Explanation:

If you write a check that you cannot cover in your checking account, the bank will return it to the person that tried to cash it and this can have legal consequences or the bank may pay it but it will charge you an overdraft fee which can result on you paying a lot of money. According to this, the statement that says that most banks just give you a warning if you write a check which you cannot cover in your checking account is false.
