3. At a bargain store, Tanya bought 3 items that each cost the same amount. Tony bought 4 items that each cost the same amount, but each was $2.25 less than the items that Tanya bought. Both Tanya and Tony paid the same amount of money. What was the individual cost of each person's items? You must complete all sections of this questions to receive full credit. (a) Write an equation. 3x = 4(x-2.25)
3x = 4x-9
add 9 to both sides
3x+9 =4x
subtract 3 x from each side
x=9
Tonya's items were $9 each
Tony's items were 9-2.25 = 6.75 each
check:
9*3=27
4 *6.75 = 27
