Primary (or P waves) seismic waves. The waves have a higher frequency (and of longitudinal wavelength) compared to the secondary or surface waves (of transverse wavelength).
Nonetheless, the secondary waves are more destructive than primary waves. Primary waves are felt first during a quake hence can be used to anticipate an earthquake by seismologists.
