The primary source of official crime statistics in the United States is the annual Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) published by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The FBI does not collect the data by itself; the data is provided to the FBI by law enforcement agencies across the nation. The FBI then compiles the Reports and publish it.
