Researchers Bernard wood and Marc collard consider early members of the genus homo to be
"large-brained Australopithecines".
Australopithecus is the name given to an extinct genus of hominis. Several evidence found point towards the fact that the Australopithecus genus lived about four million years back in history somewhere in Eastern Africa and spread all over the continent. It went extinct about two million years ago.
