Protected areas are an extremely important part of programs to conserve biodiversity and ecosystems, especially for sensitive habitats. The one that is not an example of insitu protection is the botanical garden since the three others, ie national park, wildlife sanctuary and wildlife preserve are definitely insitu types because they result from simply designating areas that already exist naturally so that the animals and plants can live in a sense, at home.

Ex-situ conservation is a process of preservation of biological diversity outside their natural habitats. It includes conservation of genetic as well as wild species living in that area.

Except, botanical garden rest all are the example of an in-situ method of conservation, which involves conservation of species in their natural or similar environment.
