I don't think you have to put soft padding around the injured part but yes you have to seek medical care and apply ice to the injury

When treating a fracture of some sort you should do ALL OF THE ABOVE.
The reason being is when you apply ice to your injury your preventing it from getting bruised. Placing soft padding around the injured part of the fracture can help you keep your leg comfortable. And most importantly you should always seek medical help for precaution.
