When this is written out the equation will look like...

4x^3 + 4x

Now we must substitute a 4 in for all x’s in the equation.

4(4)^3 + 4(4)

Use the order of operations to solve. Raise 4 to the 3rd power.

4(64) + 4(4)

Multiply where it is needed (the 4(64) and the 4(4))

256 + 16

Add the two numbers together.

272 is your answer

Hope this helps!
